Twist ties
You know that little plastic thingie that keeps the bag of bread closed? Some places use a wire twist tie. Anyway, at what point to you think it is just too much bother to twist it back up, and you just fold the bag around the bread and toss it back in the cupboard?

Re: Twist ties
I always want to tie it back on, but then the family starts to grumble. They NEVER want it to be turned back on.

Re: Twist ties
When I can twist the bag and tuck it under, and it stays. We go through a loaf in under a week though, so I don't have to worry too much about stale bread.

Re: Twist ties
When I don't mind stale bread. Ultimately, it comes down to a level of care. Sometimes I make it a point to put it back on, but eventually I don't care and it's just easier to twist and tuck. It's the lazy way, what can I say?

Re: Twist ties
I agree with Chex, our bread doesn't stay around for long enough to worry about the ties - LOL - especially when Matt is home. A loaf lasts maybe two to three days tops.
We need another option to vote.

Re: Twist ties
I think the 1/3 and 1/2 options are close enough to estimate the "tuck option" that Chex was describing. Even if it is only 2 or 3 days, eventually you do the spin and tuck, fold over, or whatever. All of the options are estimates, because nobody actually measures their bread to see what ratio is left -vs- what has been used.

Re: Twist ties
I'd say there's at least 3/4 left when I do that.

Re: Twist ties
I don't go through bread fast enough, so I need the closure tag to tell me when my bread is expired.

Re: Twist ties
I didn't go through it fast enough until my daughter started school. They should really sell sandwich bread by the half loaf.

Re: Twist ties
Those clips are cool. But is there a point where you decide that it is not worth the hassle? Where you toss the clip in the drawer and just fold the bag over?

Re: Twist ties
Sorry Dows, I hate those clips.
I don't know why though? But I think it's because my mum uses them all the time (bright orange ones) on everything that needs sealing and they get everywhere, sometimes popping off accidentally.
I never know where to store them either, they just end up in a mess in the drawer.
I prefer those colours though.
