Crunching is bad, but moist chewy sounds are the worst.

I don't now if it was because he was in the Navy, but when I was a wee Zot my dad made sure all of us kids didn't smack our mouths when we ate.

its not just that though, because no matter how you eat crunchy food, it makes noise.

It's also really bad when people are tasting food, and they smack their tongue. Your tastebuds do not need to make noise to function!!

With oily and acidic foods, such as coffee and wine, smacking the tongue off the pallette speeds up oxidization and helps give a fuller sense of the overall flavor from just a sip.chex wrote:It's also really bad when people are tasting food, and they smack their tongue. So yesterday at work, I was delivering two skids of tile to a new house. the contractor asked if I could stack them one on top of the other with my forklift. As I was doing so, I heard a distinctive POP, and I instantly knew that one of the tiles had cracked. Dammit.

That can be done with your lips closed and your tongue moving in a more quiet manner. It's just as rude to smack on the first bite as it is on the rest of them.

I was referring specifically to sommeliers. During a meal with someone? Don't smack your mouth. We agree on that.

The fact that I"m so smart. I was working in a section for my book and thought:"There must be an easier way to do this." I tried it and yea, my way was easier. Now I have to rewrite a section.

Re: what annoys the hell out of you?
A little precontext.
I still live with my parents (All my siblings do, as well as my married oldest brother)
I work overnights.
Wednesdays, I work at 4 PM, after an overnight getting done at 4:30 AM.
My sister-in-law doesn't currently have a job, so her day is spent at home with the kids (3 years and 6 months), as well as a german shepherd.
She has a fairly low level of patience, and get's upset fairly easily, meaning it isn't all that uncommon for her to yell, whether at the dog or one of the kids.
I understand that kids can be frustrating, but it is possible to convey that frustration without raising your voice to that level.
So, This morning, I got home from work around 5 AM. I made and ate food, and basically went to bed (right around 6AM).
Around 11, I get woken up from yelling. (3 year old didn't want to take a nap)
Okay, I figured it wouldn't last long, and I could get back to sleep.
Next think I know, it's 12, and she's still yelling. It's a smurf nap, so maybe he doesn't take one today! I don't care! At this point I just want to go back to sleep!
I send her a text. Fairly passive aggressive.
"Good thing I can sleep before I go to work tonight..."
She doesn't reply right away, but it was a lot quieter at this point.
A few minutes later she replies:
"It's not my fault you sleep during the day. You could go to bed when you get home from work and then take a nap before you go to work"
So, today is Wednesday, I got home at 5 AM, I work at 4PM (So I wake up around 2:30 so I have time to eat and shower before I go)
At this point, like I said it's noon.
I reply:
"Yes, but I got home *during the day*, and my *taking a nap before work* would happen right now anyways"
Like, at the time I got woken up, I had slept around 5 hours. I can function of that, but not ideally.
Also, I can't do naps. It's either I sleep or I don't sleep, and if I sleep less than 2 hours, I wake up feeling miserable and worse than before I fell asleep.
She didn't reply. Probably for the best.
I was waiting for her to take shots at my job (something like "It's not my fault you work nights")
Actually, I was hoping she would... I tend to look for arguments...
If she had I would have said something along the lines of "Yeah, sure, my hours may not be ideal, but at least I have a job and don't spend my entire days sitting at home on my bottom"
That's the main reason I'm looking forward to getting my own place... She won't be there. I'm not overly fond of her to begin with...

Re: what annoys the hell out of you?
So on Wednesday I had a test that I was unprepared for. I though it was next week. But I answered the questions the best I could. The thing is they were all short answer questions, worth multiple marks, and opinion based. I only skipped one question that I couldn't answer. That was three marks. There were three poetry based questions that I struggled on but tried my best to interpret them. One was worth 5 and the other 2. The last questions that was worth 3 I was able to answer fully.
I got 1 out of 15! I'm not the only one who thinks that's not physically possible?
