When you're talking about people who are transgender you also don't refer to them as if they're another species. Sorry to lecture, but just as you wouldn't say 'a gay' or 'a black', can you avoid saying 'a transgender'? At least put the word person after the adjective.
I feel slightly guilty for getting that one because I literally just looked at Gerda Wegener's Wikipedia page. That said, I've thought of something so start guessing.
